Since 2017 the Birdock B.V. has been in the making and has been as colorful as the world is. In 2018 the Birdrock B.V. was founded to experiment at first hand what it meant to nurture a self-managed organization with co-ownership. 

 

The following venture inspired the second one, which is a clothing label, EMMA Amsterdam, to explore the subject of sustainability in the textile industry, which inspired setting-up a production facility with the local partners in Istanbul in 2018. EMMA Amsterdam achieved its purpose in December 2021 when it was closed and the focus shifted to the production facility locally. 

 

In 2020 the Birdrock B.V. started exploring the waters of Emotional Intelligence and its role and impact in organizations with being a co-founder of UNI Emotion, an application tracking emotions within an organization and community in real-time. The Birdrock B.V. left this venture in October 2023. 

 

Since the start the Birdrocck B.V. has been offering services in internal and external communication, brand building, marketing, organizational culture, strategy and organizational change and transformation on a freelance basis. 

 

Today the focus is on Organizational Transformation with a focus on transformations from hierarchies to self-managed organizations and communication services with a focus on generating engagement and community growth with the right content and communication strategies. 

Behind all these strategies is the belief of organizations being vehicles of positive impact and being able to drive systematic change. 

 

PS.: Birdrock refers to a place in La Jolla, California. In this neighborhood you will see a lot of hummingbirds. The hummingbird (with the beautiful name beija flor in Portuguese) is a messenger of joy. It stands for intelligence, beauty, devotion, and love. These little birds are also respected as fierce fighters. Hummingbirds are a symbol of good luck. These things represent the Birdrock at its core. Using joy as a resistance as Mari Kuroyama would say.
